The Ranger Knife is available in two constructions - one with a flat fibreglass core and one without a core (coreless). The version with a core features a gold-coloured cross guard, while the coreless version has a steel-coloured cross guard, allowing for easy identification. The flat fibreglass core provides high rigidity at the vertical angle and more flexibility at the horizontal angle, giving greater control than the coreless construction. Some people prefer the stiffer feel of a core, as it can give the impression of a higher quality product. However, the flat core construction is not designed to block blows from LARP weapons but to offer a stiffer feel.
